Michael Jeff Achumbre is Filipino. Before any of this he spent eight years on the phones, taking thousands of calls for Hotels.com and AT&T.

He watched the same thing happen the whole time. People holding in a queue, waiting for someone to pick up, and some of them giving up and going somewhere else because that was easier than waiting. Those companies had real systems and rooms full of people answering. It still happened.

He spent those years inside the software behind the phones. That is where he learned which parts of the job a machine can take, and which parts it should be left out of.

A smaller business stands even less chance. So now he builds the thing that answers instead.
